About Mova Law Group – Personal Injury Attorneys

Prior to founding the firm, Chris Movafagh (Aka Chris Mova), was a law clerk at one of the biggest and most prestigious personal injury firms in Southern California where he honed his legal tactics and negotiation skills.

He saw a problem with the firm he worked for and every other big personal injury law firm. Each client was not treated as a human, but rather as a number. The goal of these big firms was to retain as many clients per month as possible and settle as many cases as possible. Chris did not think this was fair to the client because there was always money left on the table for the client. But the big firms would always push their client to accept the lowball offer.

Chris saw this and wanted to make a difference, even if it was small. He wanted to only take on a handful of clients and treat each of his clients like the unique person they are; each with a different story of their pain and suffering. Chris made it his personal goal to hand pick the best team to help him reach his goal of creating the Best Personal Injury Law Firm San Diego has seen.

Today, Chris Mova is well respected across the country for helping lawyers achieve spectacular awards and settlements on behalf of their clients. He coaches personal injury lawyers in other states on how to properly set up a personal injury case, how to negotiate it, and how to litigate it, especially cases involving spinal injury and brain injuries.

Larissa Lazarus

Meet Larissa Lazarus

Attorney Larissa L. Lazarus is a dedicated member of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. She also serves as a volunteer mediator for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of California, and regularly supports the Pro Bono San Diego Bankruptcy Clinic through the Bankruptcy Court. In addition, she contributed her expertise as a member of the San Diego Bankruptcy Court’s Local Rules Committee under the leadership of Chief Bankruptcy Judge Laura S. Taylor.

Attorney Lazarus joined the Law Offices of Mark L. Miller in early 2005 after earning her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She began her career in the firm’s personal injury department, working closely with Mark L. Miller on complex auto accident, dog bite, premises liability, and slip-and-fall cases.

Shortly after she joined the firm, significant changes to the United States Bankruptcy Code took effect, including the introduction of the “means test,” which made qualifying for bankruptcy more challenging. Attorney Lazarus quickly mastered the new law and dedicated herself to helping clients qualify for Chapter 7 liquidation. Many of the early bankruptcy matters she handled remain among the most complex cases the firm has filed.

When the 2008 recession struck, Attorney Lazarus played a vital role in assisting hundreds of homeowners through Chapter 13 reorganization, helping them protect their homes, eliminate unsecured junior liens, and regain financial stability. She supported clients from the beginning of their cases through discharge—often three to five years later—and takes great pride in guiding individuals and families on their path to financial freedom.

Over the course of her career, Attorney Lazarus has tried cases before the Bankruptcy Court and has handled civil jury trials in the San Diego Superior Court. She has participated in thousands of 341(a) meetings of creditors and appeared in hundreds of bankruptcy and state court hearings.

Since 2007, she has also shared her knowledge as an adjunct professor—first at Southwestern College and now at the University of San Diego.
